The drive from Franklin to Highlands is a short but incredibly scenic 30-kilometer journey through the Nantahala National Forest. You will take US-64 East, which winds through the mountains and passes several famous waterfalls, including Cullasaja Falls. The trip takes approximately 45 minutes due to the winding nature of the road. Highlands is a charming mountain town known for its high elevation, upscale boutiques, and fine dining. This is one of the most beautiful short drives in North Carolina.
