The most practical way to reach New York City from St. Cloud is to drive to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and take a direct flight to one of the major NYC airports (JFK, LGA, or EWR). The flight takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. While Amtrak service exists from the Twin Cities, it is a very long journey. Once in NYC, the subway system is the most efficient way to navigate the city.
Total Distance: 2,000 km driving distance; 1,700 km straight-line air distance.
